Bittium joins Rightware's Kanzi Partner Program and showcases OEM application management and secure solutions on Android™ Automotive platform at CES 2020

Oulu, Finland, January 7, 2020 – Bittium joins Rightware's Kanzi partner program and demonstrates together with Rightware the integration of Bittium SafeMove® application management solution and cloud service with Rightware's Kanzi reference HMI (Human Machine Interface) platform at CES 2020 in Las Vegas 7-10 January 2020. The demo will feature Android™ Automotive on the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Platform, which security and data privacy has been hardened with the help of Bittium SafeMove® software. This enables faster development by smaller teams with greater creative freedom.

Bittium is the first partner to build on the newly announced reference platform by Rightware. The new robust, multi-display solution integrates the broader family of Kanzi UI design and development tools.

"We have developed a fully functional digital software and multi-display solution featuring the cockpit and infotainment system on the Kanzi reference platform.  With access to an integrated toolchain supporting advanced graphics and connectivity out-of-the-box, we were able to design and implement a digital software solution including our secure remote management products in an incredibly short time," said Hannu Huttunen, CEO of Bittium.

"Bittium brings deep Android system experience, from the hardware level all the way up the software stack, to the automotive industry.  There is great synergy between our Android offerings, and we are delighted to welcome Bittium to the Kanzi Partner Program, a global ecosystem delivering HMI solutions based on Kanzi, as our newest Technology Partner," said Ville Ilves, CEO of Rightware.

The use cases demonstrated by Bittium will highlight the company's strong security expertise, which has enabled the security enhancements for the designed software. Managing the OEM application downloads for the car allows the carmaker control the visual brand identity as well as the ability to sell post-purchase feature upgrades for the software inside the car. The management system developed for vehicle monitoring and control, in turn, supports the fleet management of service providers, such as logistics or car rental companies. Bittium's demonstration consists of Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 devices running Android™ Automotive OS based on the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Platform, designed and manufactured in-house. These devices run the digital cockpit and infotainment system applications built with Kanzi software including rich 3D graphics. The Kanzi Connect application allows the information sharing across all infotainment systems and applications.

Bittium provides high quality solutions and services for automotive industry suppliers whose goal is to create reliable, intelligent and easy-to-use in-vehicle systems to make the driver's experience as comfortable and safe as possible. Due to the comprehensive Linux and Android know-how, Bittium's product development services focuses mainly on connected car, vehicle and its feature control, digital cockpit, advanced driver-assistance systems and autonomous driving.

Rightware's new reference HMI delivers value with reference applications for Android Automotive and seamless integration into the Android development environment. It introduces ready-to-use adaptations for Android platform services and various commercial services. Kanzi empowers automakers to differentiate vehicles with Android Automotive infotainment systems with rich 3D graphics, shared data across all platforms and operating systems in the vehicle, and a consistent visual brand identity across the cockpit.

Both the Bittium demonstration and Rightware's reference HMI platform are on display during the Consumer Electronics Show at the GENIVI networking event at the Bellagio Hotel on Tuesday January 7, 6:00 - 9:00 pm, and from Tuesday January 7 through Friday January 10 at Rightware's private suite at the MGM Grand hotel.
