OULU, Finland, November 6, 2014 - Elektrobit (EB) is proud to present the new EB Tough Mobile smartphone, designed and built for demanding Mobile Security and Public Safety markets. The EB Tough Mobile is packed with innovative features tailored for professional users like government agencies, authorities, first responders and other professionals with critical and secure communication needs. Built on the EB Special Device Platform, its unique mechanical structure combines extreme durability with modern and sophisticated smartphone look-and-feel.
The EB Tough Mobile incorporates a hardware-based security platform, with hi-security features such as tamper-detection and firmware and hardware integrity check. This dedicated hardware is essential for building layered mobile security solutions. The EB Tough Mobile hardware platform enables also integration of customer's own and third party software security solutions. The EB Tough Mobile smartphone is designed and manufactured in a way that the components and software solutions used in the device are available for auditing.

The EB Tough Mobile is powered by Qualcomm® Snapdragon(TM) 801 processor with 2.3GHz quad-core mobile processing, Android 4.4 (KitKat) operating system and 150Mbps LTE-A connectivity. It is enhanced with many advanced features, such as, support for global LTE frequencies, including the US Public Safety band 14, dedicated push-to-talk button (PTT), active noise and echo cancellation, powerful loudspeaker and glove-usable 5" full HD display. Mechanically the EB Tough Mobile has IP67 level water and dust protection and MIL-STD-810G level shock resistance. The EB Tough Mobile is based on the EB Special Device Platform which can be tailored with other connectivity technologies, like for example satellite phone functionality.
EB offers the EB Tough Mobile globally also to system integrators, solution providers and other partners who will sell the phone as part of their total offering to their end-customers. EB provides EB Tough Mobile smartphone a long device lifetime and technical support, as well as various customization options (e.g. Direct Mode) and associated engineering services. The planned product availability is mid-2015. EB is currently arranging live product demonstrations to selected key customers and partners, and welcomes interested companies to contact us for cooperation opportunities.
