EB'S NAVIGATION SOLUTION POWERS ClarionMiND (Mobile Internet Navigation Device)

EB is pleased to announce the ClarionMiND (Mobile Internet Navigation Device) is based on EB street director navigation solution. The ClarionMiND is a high-performance portable navigation and computing device powered by the Intel Atom™ processor.

The ClarionMiND combines the EB street director navigation solution with the latest browser technology resulting in a next-generation mobile computer with an easy to use navigation system and an always-on connection. The EB street director navigation within the ClarionMiND is fully integrated to all internet applications, e.g. the entire Google Maps data base. Google search results from Google Maps will be plotted directly on the map of the EB street director navigation application in the ClarionMiND. The device will route directly to all search results from Google Maps, e.g. Local Search or any destinations related to points of interests (POI). Using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth mobile phone dial-up the ClarionMiND mobile internet device (MID) connects to the Internet, but even if not connected to the Internet, EB street director provides a state of the art route planning.

"EB provides extensive knowledge when it comes to tooling for navigation and human machine interfaces (HMI)." says Mr. Tetsuo Hata, project manager of the ClarionMiND at Clarion. "The EB street director navigation allowed us to customize the HMI comprehensively and efficiently. It also enabled us to integrate features with Internet connectivity, such as Google Local Search. These features can now interface directly with the navigation." Hata sums up: "EB's support for the product realization has been excellent and we were able to bring the product to market in time."

"For EB it is very appealing to provide our navigation software within a device that enables seamless experience of Google Local and POI Search together with EB street director navigation." says Martin Schleicher, Director Products & Platforms Infotainment at EB. "Our customers appreciate the fact that EB offers a standardized product as well as accompanying solutions and services as needed to create innovative products."

EB street director is a white-label navigation software targeted for the automotive and consumer electronics market. The software is modular in structure and supports multiple operating systems. It can be used in different device classes spanning from wireless devices like MIDs and mobile phones to Personal Navigation Devices (PND) and in-dash navigation systems of the automotive industry. The architecture of the EB street director navigation software has open interfaces and allows OEMs to integrate their own applications and services, as well as those of third-party suppliers.
