Social Responsibility
Bittium’s most important assets are skilled people, a diverse and non-discriminatory work community, and well-being and expertise. The company offers employees challenging and inspiring work and is committed to supporting their development and investing in their well-being. We strive to act every day in accordance with our values of trust, courage and innovation.
Improving the well-being of our own workforce
Our added value to our customers is the expertise and innovation of our committed people. Our success depends on who we have in house; what kind of ideas and solutions we develop and how good the service we provide. Our best breakthroughs have been born from the megalomaniacal dreams of individual people.
Diversity, Equality and Inclusion
All employees and job applicants are treated equally, regardless of gender, age, ethnic background, political opinion or other similar background factor. The equality plan was updated during 2023. Its key measures continue to focus on equal pay and career development, transparency in recruitment and systematic support for the careers of aging employees. The implementation of equality is examined, among other things, through personnel surveys and research from the perspectives of remuneration, career development and recruitment. For Bittium, non-discrimination means equal treatment and ensuring a non-discriminatory work community culture. The company respects its employees’ right to professional organization and does not accept discrimination or harassment in any form.
Personnel development and training
Bittium’s position as a technological pioneer requires that personnel maintain and actively develop their own expertise in terms of both basic skills and related common ways of doing things, as well as the latest technologies, tools, legislation and other regulations in the rapidly changing operating environment, and that they have a view on the trends in the development of technology and the operating environment.
Bittium organizes regular development discussions, various trainings and learning platforms as activities aimed at the impacts related to the development of personnel’s expertise and training. In 2024, the number of training days was on average 1.5 days per employee. This includes external and internal trainings as well as orientation and self-study. Internal training can also be on-the-job learning or sharing of expertise, and external training can be self-study.
Health and safety
Most of the work at Bittium is research and product or software development, which is why the most significant work capacity risks are related to musculoskeletal disorders, coping at work and mental well-being. Employees mainly work on projects where schedules and workloads can vary rapidly depending on the business situation. Bittium has an early support model in place. The model is considered to be a matter for the entire work community, which makes it possible to increase openness. From the perspective of workload, it is important to be able to talk about coping, because it can help change the corporate culture to a healthier one.
